Baseplate. Attach or not and any tips?

Sorry if this has been discussed before.  I did try multiple lines of searching with no success.

Anyways, I have a wonderful new Home Theater including Klipsch 2xRP-280F, RP-400C, 2xRP-250S, 2xR-41SA, and R-120SW, all connected to an Onkyo TX-NR7100.  I am simply blown away by the quality of the surround sound, but I have a super simple technical question.

Unlike an older YouTube unboxing video that I found, my RP-280Fs came with the base plate unattached.  I see that it would tilt the speaker up ever so slightly.  Right now I have the speakers setup on the plates, but have not yet screwed in the base permanently with wood screws.

Questions:

Is it better to attach this plate or to leave it off?

If it is better to attach the plate then are there any further tips as there are no holes or marks that I have found indicating where to drill holes for the supplied wood screws?
