Chris Robinson
The following message was passed on to me. I followed the bottom link to file a claim and it was fast and painless. I don't believe you'll have to dig up any receipts to prove this. I would guess that most of you bought a CD, cassette or LP during the five year period in question ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Have you collected your $20 payment from the major record labels, distributors & retailers yet? They've been court-ordered to give $44 million back to consumers, but since most people don't know about it yet, it's going largely unclaimed. Read this article from the AP newswire: http://www.wired.com/news/print/0,1294,57111,00.html Then click this link to file your claim: http://www.musiccdsettlement.com ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
kjohnsonhp
I saw that in Newsweek. The payment is the max available and the actual amount if based on number of filers. If enough people file then the payment goes to charity instead of individuals. Hey...it's worth the 2minutes of time. All you have to do is "promise" that you've made a purchase within the time frame.
fini
I filed, and reported the news down in the dreaded general forum. fini
