With that being said I love the sound, the ease of setup, the features, remote and overall ease of use. I had an Onkyo DS797 and the pioneer outperforms in in every aspect. I looked at the Sunfire but I think it was MrMcGoo and RY that provided the most feedback to make my decision. The only regret I have is I didn't buy it from an authorized dealer here are some links I dug up about sunfire and pioneer. There are several thread in these forums which talk about each. Someone asked me if I love my receiver because I spent so much money on it. The answer is no, buying from an unauthorized dealer I saved quite a bit but have the worry if it breaks I eat it. MrMcGoo Posted February 16, 2003 Share Posted February 16, 2003 modoc, The Sunfire weighs 32 pounds and yet produces very high wattage. The Pioneer weighs 64 pounds. The difference is in the type of power supply used. The Pioneer uses a conventional EI type transformer. The Sunfire uses a tracking down converter power supply. It is great for high wattage but has a very poor signal to noise ratio. The Pioneer is as quiet as any receiver made. There was one report of a Sunfire receiver having trouble passing a component video signal. The Pioneer shuts down on 4 Ohm speakers at high volumes. Most Klipsch speakers are rated at 8 Ohms although they seem to perform more like 6 Ohm speakers. IMHO the 49TXi and Klipsch are a perfect match.
