boomac
Hello, There is a small, 1-2" tear, in the rear passive cone of one of my Forte IIs. It does not seem to effect the sound but I'm pretty sure it should be taken care of. I've been given a few options and I would like to get some additional input as to the proper course of action. 1. remove the cone and glue it from the back. 2. have it re-coned. 3. Have it replaced. Any advice will be appreciated. Scott
WMcD
1) You should check with 1-800-KLIPSCH to see if there are replacements available. That would be my first choice. 2) If not, see if they can recommend a shop for reconing. 3) The tear should not be too difficult to repair yourself if you remove the unit and can get to the reverse side. I would use a patch of light weight fabric or even paper, and superglue. I've not done this in a while and others may have more experience. easylistener
I have done this to a pair of JBL L65a. It worked good for awhile, but you have to make sure the glue will not eat the woofer away. (chemical reaction) Also try not to use to much, keep the balance right. But if it doesn't work you allways can have it reconed, nothing really to lose is there.
