AlexI
Hi, I have RP-3 that I run with Marantz Sr19 in HT (with RC(S)3) and with Scott 222 in 2-channel set up. I'm considering replacing Rp-3 with Forte II or Forte. Does it make sense? Thanks for you advise.
dougdrake
Depends. What are you looking for? What do you want to improve upon? DD
AlexI
Im satisfied with my HT, but Im trying to improve my stereo system. Im not satisfied with Rp-3 midrange and the transition between midrange and basis is not smooth enough.
dougdrake
Alexl - I have the Forte's, but haven't heard the RP-3s. Just looking at the specs, it seems the Forte would give you the mid-range you are looking for, as it handles 700hz to 6000hz in the midrange, versus the RP-3 handling 90hz to 2750hz, so a lot more "midrange" coming out of the larger midrange driver on the Forte than on the RP-3. Hey, the good thing about the Forte's is you can sell 'em for what you paid for them (if you paid a fair price), so you will lose nothing to try (except maybe some shipping if you can't find the locally). AlexI
Doug, RP-3 has powered woofer. Its not very accurate and sometimes boomy. What about Fortes? Do they have enough basis? Is there any difference between Forte and ForteII? Thanks. Alex
dougdrake
There are some differences between the Forte I and II. I haven't heard the II so I can't comment on which I prefer. The Forte's have plenty of bass, I assure you, and it is clean. I almost didn't need a subwoofer, but of course a sub helps for HT and for bringing out the best in music from the lower bass and harmonics. AlexI
Doug:I think I will follow your advise and try to find a pair on e-bay with a seller in my area. Thanks. Alex
