tangman99
Is it bad to place a down firing subwoofer on carpet? Is there something that should be placed between the subwoofer and the carpet? And at the risk of sounding really stupid, what about placing the subwoofer on it's side so that it is not firing down but perhaps at the wall? Thanks. dougdrake
I believe I read that low bass is not affected by things like carpet and fabric. Thus, your bass output should not be diminished by it firing onto the carpet (I assume that is your concern). I would not put it on its side. It was designed to fire down, and for the woofer to be firing horizontally may stress its supporting structure in ways not intended (nor beneficial). PhilH
tangman: Yours is a common question in regards to our downfiring subs. Carpet will "soak up" high frequencies, but since a subwoofer produces low frequencies only there is no need to isolate the sub or point it away from the carpet.
