justin_tx_16
just a dirty potentiometer. here is what you can do. if you don't mind taking the control pod apart and fixing it yourself... unplug the control pod from the subwoofer unscrew the screw that holds on teh speaker stand. push back and then pull down on the control pod. open up the control pod and squirt contact cleaner ONLY on the knobs that are causing the static, before taking it apart though, try just spraying it into the hole around the knob. when you spray the contact cleaner on the pot (potentiometer) move the volume knob back and forth swiftly but not forcefully. let it sit for about 5-10 minutes to assure it has dried out. IT MUST DRY OR ELSE YOU COULD RUIN IT. connect it back to the subwoofer and see if you have static. option two, pay $50 and get a new CP-1 (the name of the control pod) from Klipsch. contact information below. ferrari_355
What sound card do you have? Klipsch speakers need a nice sound card to function properly. Something like a Sound Blaster Audigy or better.
justin_tx_16
while that is true to a point ferrari, don't put the Audigy in that place there are MANY cards that are cheaper and better. And a SBLive! will do just fine. Anything over an onboard card is gonna be ok, the step up starts with Hercules cards.

justin_tx_16
In any case, the sound card does not matter when the static only occurs whilst turning the volume knob.
