HypeAudio.com and the Yamaha YST-SW305

I am planning on buying the Yamaha YST-SW305 subwoofer. It lists for 299 at

most standard online or B&M stores so this price at HypeAudio of 194 + 25

shipping is looking really attractive.

HypeAudio Yamaha

YST-SW305

Does anyone have any experience with HypeAudio. Is it a good place to buy from?

Also any comments on that model subwoofer itself are welcomed. It has gotten

pretty good reviews over at www.audioreview.com but if you guys think I can get

more for $200 out of a different unit please toss me your opinions.

Thanks

1) which subwoofers are better at that 220 total price?

Yeah, it is tough to find something decent in that price range. The only Yamaha subs I have any experience with is that YST-SW40 that I still use in my setup (left over from my old Infinity/Yamaha setup I had before I got the Klipsch). For such a cheap, little subwoofer, it is actually pretty decent. It produced a nice clean bass without all that boominess. I don't know how good the model you are looking at is.

Other models to check out in that price range (all taken from Acoustic Sound Design - a very reputable on-line dealer):

Acoustic Research ARS-112PS

Acoustic Research ARS-115PS

BIC V1215 Powered Subwoofer

Polk Audio PSW 202 Powered Sub

Polk Audio PWS 303 Powered Sub

Klipsch KSW10 Powered Subwoofer

JBL PB-10II Powered Subwoofer

Some of these are a little more than the $220, but all are still under $300. These are the models I would be looking at for that price range, along with the Yamaha. (Stay away from the gawd-awful Sony "subwoofers" - more like "subfarters").

2) or where else should i buy the yamaha from? hypeaudio seems to be significantly lower than anywhere else i've seen it. have u seen it cheaper?

I have not really seen any myself. As mentioned above, I would look into Acoustic Sound Design for decent prices from a what is considered by many on here a very good and reputable on-line dealer. (although I have never bought anything from them - rather pay the extra money and go through a local dealer whenever I can - I go online as a last resort if what I am looking for cannot be found locally.)
