jaguil
I have two questions concerning a dvd/sacd player: 1. Can anyone give me a recommendation of a good medium priced dvd/sacd player. 2. Will I really need 5 interconnects to listen to sacd, or will a coaxial cable do the job. Thanks
dougdrake
1) Define mid-priced. In the $500 range, look at the Philips DVD-963SA. A board member here (at least 1) has one, and uses it for 2-channel SACD and loves it, especially its ability to upsample Redbook CDs! Also look at the Pioneer DV-45a (around $450). In the $250 range, the Sony ??775?? should let you get your feet wet. 2) Yes, you must use all 6 cables if you want multi-channel SACD. Aside from 2-3 very expensive ($1000+) exceptions, there are no digital connections that support SACD multi-channel. You'd want to get 2 component video cables to make the connection, just to minimize the tangle of wires. DD
