Buying CP-1 in Toronto?

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm having a problem with my old promedias. I'm losing one of the channels and I think the problem is the pre-amp because if I wiggle the volume/surrond knobs a bit I can sometimes get it back. I did tests and all the speakers still work, so its has to be either the pre-amp or the amp. I live in toronto and want to try the CP-1 upgrade to see if it will fix all my problems. I found a post back from 2001 that names a store but that store doesn't have a return policy and I only want to keep the CP-1 if it will fix the problem I'm having. Could a Klipsch rep point me to some other stores that may stock the CP-1?

Thanks

Malcolm

Ya, thats the place that won't allow returns.

What do you mean exactly by authorized dealer? The dealer locater comes up with lots of stores in toronto, does this mean this is the only store that is allowed to sell the CP-1?

Does the klipsch store ship to Canada yet?

Ugh, thats a shame since I really don't want to buy from them since they were so rude. (Like asking what their return policy is is an insulting question or something...)

Is there nothing you can do to help? I would really like to continue using Klipsch products and when I get around to buying a DVD player upgrading to a 5.1/6.1 klipsch system. Currently buying this upgrade is a gamble. It may fix the problem, which would be great. But if it doesn't I'm stuck with a set of broken speakers and an extra chuck of change out of my pocket. They said if I wanted to come in and test it they'd let me for a 30 dollar service charge. Why is your only authorized dealer so bad with customers? I get the impression they see selling PM accesories as a burden instead of a good business oportunity...

Yes thats something I will do but as far as I know nobody I know has a set.

This is really a customer service issue anyway and I shouldn't be needing to seek out someone not affiliated with Klipsch to check this. My product is broken and since the warantee is expired I'm willing to pay money to fix the problem. But the problem here isn't my willingness to hand over cash, it is this authorized dealer that treats me like I'm not worth their time (probably because the CP-1 is a small ticket item compared to the other stuff they sell)

The Klipsch website says this about authorized dealers:

"This dealer network, consisting of both physical storefronts and select Internet sites, has been chosen based on the ability to properly represent, sell and, in most cases, service Klipsch product."

Does this store properly 'represent' the way Klipsch treats their customers?

Seriously, its not like I'm sitting here complaining that Klipsch should fix my speakers for free and how bad they are and how I'm going to go buy Logitech next. I just want to fix my speaker if its posible and I'm willing to pay to do it. I'm NOT willing to pay cash for the 'chance' to fix them. If the CP-1 doesn't fix it chances are I'll buy a 5.1 system from this store anyway. Its a win-win situation for them and they want to charge me 30$ to find out what I should purchase...

Did you get this resolved? If not, try this. Go to the local Rat Shack and get a can of TV-Tuner/Control Cleaner and spray it in to the hole where the volume knob is sticking out of. Rotate the knob several times and this just may clear up the crackly-ness. It worked on an old boombox that I have. That problem is usually caused by dust getting into the contacts of the potetiometer that is used to control the volume.
