madman7th
I originally bought a Klipsch 4.1 speaker system and a friend gave me a fully functional amp unit for free. However it has no speaker wire, no control pod, JUST the amp. Does anyone feel it could be possible for me to upgrade my system to 5.1? I know I can buy the control pod for $50 and then another speaker for $30. Second, is the DD 5.1 digital decoder that Klipsch sells worth the added money? How prominent is DTS ES (6.1)? Should I wait for that, or just look into the one Klipsch has?
pinipig523
you cannot upgrade from a 4.1 promedia to 5.1 because the amp only supports 4 speakers. however, if you can get a hold of a 5.1 amp - then by simply adding an extra speaker, you can upgrade to 5.1. madman7th
The 4.1 amps have a filter and bass from every speaker is pumped into the subwoofer, correct? Except I have 2 amps. How about I stick the center/subwoofer up to the second amp, and buy 2 speakers? I know the speaker for the sub will be a dud because all of it's sound will stay in the bass.
