epower
Hi Guys I have a small question and wanted to see people's opinion. I currently am a satisfied and proud owner of my Integra reciever and a pair of RF-35s. I am going to add next two surround speakers to my setup. I have seen certain setups where they run bookshelf speakers as surround and other places speakers designed as surrounds speakers. Is there an advantage to either one?? Thx Emilio PS My next upgrade after that will be the center then lastly a sub.
damonrpayne
If you're buying new, why not get the RF-35s to match your fronts? On the flip side, I'm using bookshelf speakers for surrounds right now and they're working OK. If you bought RB-X bookshelf speakers I'm sure it would sound great. Guest BobG
Using the matching WDST surrounds, the RS-35's will provide a much more enveloping rear soundfield than would using bookshelf speakers. IMO, this is far better for movie replay. For music, there are people who prefer the narrower dispersion of bookshelf speakers or another identical pair of the speakers they use for fronts. jdm56
Yeah, what Bob said! I think "surround" speakers are THE way to go; for movies today, and for music in the future, as the record industry learns and gets over their "gee whiz" tendency to locate music hard in the back channels. < Anyone care to bet that in the not-too-distant future, these "sound-all-around" recordings will be regarded as quaint, failed experiments?>
