fdshadowfax
Has anyone bi-wired a set of RF-3s in a HT environment? I have a set powered by a DENON 3801 and was wondering if its worth bi-wiring them. Thanks

boa12
ok, finally the big rf-3 biwire test is complete. used the new monster mcx biwire w/ bananas against monster standard 12 guage wire (pretty much like lampcord w/ a few supposed improvements). suprisingly, i heard quite a difference using the old sony str-de935 in stereo. the plus was an amazing improvement in stereo imaging. w/ the biwires it sounded like i had a big center speaker. the sound shifted from more L & R to center & sounded quite impressive. also, the highs seemed brighter & the bass slightly more dynamic & tight. on the downside, w/ the sony lacking greatly in amperage, it seemed to sap a lot of power out of it. it just wasn't nearly as loud @ 12 o'clock as when using the standard wire. & though the highs seemed brighter, there was also much more hiss w/ the biwire. so i decided to go ahead & biwire (using Monster CX-2) the klf-30s in the main room w/ a marantz sr-8000. couldn't replicate that improvement in imaging, but the klf are only 5 ft. apart. again, slight improvement in highs, more dynamic sound, & slightly tighter bass. conclusion: need more research, but i'm done. just got done crawling in/out of the crawl space to do all this wiring. possibly the biggest improvement comes from a lower quality receiver (since it has so much to improve upon ). if you're real anal & finicky like me, buy some cheap wire or borrow some pre-made biwires & give it a try. god's speed. any ?s class? good nite ------------------ Klipsch KLF 30 (front), KLF C-7, Cornwall I (rear) Velodyne HGS-18 sub woofer Monsterbass 400 sub interconnects & Monster CX-2 biwire & Z-12 cable Marantz SR-8000 receiver Sony DVP-C650D cd/dvd player Sony Trinitron 27" stereo tv Toshiba hi-fi stereo vcr Technics dual cassette deck Scientific Atlanta Explorer 2000 digital cable box Boa's Listenin Lounge: Klipsch RF-3 (front), RC-3, cheap little Technics (rear) Monster MCX Biwires Sony STR-DE935 a/v receiver Kenwood KR-9600 AM/FM stereo receiver(stereo power amp for rf-3) Teac PD-D1200 5-disk cd changer Technics direct drive turntable Sega Genesis game player Sub: None yet rock on!
