PhilXYU
Can I plug the digital out (optical) of my playstation2 into the optical in of the SBaudigy2 Platinum? Will the card decode the digital sound?? I need to know because i'm getting an Audigy 2 and want to know if i'm better off with the platinum because I'm using my PS2 on my PC with my ATi TV-Wonder and I would rather use digital sound than analog (RCA). I'm just not sure if the Audigy would decode the optical sound of the PS2
justin_tx_16
I have never tried it, but I have been told that that works.

BeeFsteR
You can do this and it will work BUT you will not get surround sound for games in most cases. Most games don't use DTS or DD5.1 sound. Some games (such as Vice City) do use DTS but the Audigy will not decode it since the Audigy only decodes Dolby Digital hardware wise. Also, some games use Dolby Digital for cutscenes and FMV's and the Audigy will decode and you will get full 5.1 surround sound.
