milton10
Hello everyone! This may be a silly question, but is it possible to combine a 2 channel tube system with an HT (Yamaha receiver) system. I am not trying to use the tubes for HT, but to be able to switch my mains (Heresys) and sub (Sunfire Jr.) to the tubes for 2 channel operation. I will leave my Yamaha system to HT enjoyment only. Is this possible? I am considering an older Scott or Fisher amp. Thanks! Milton
kjohnsonhp
There are members that have AVR's for HT and tubes for 2-channel all using the same mains. The AVR w/DVD, center and surround spearks connected is plugged into the EXTRA or AUX input on the tube amp. The volume on the tube amp is set around 12:00 (or what is needed) for unity gain when controlling the AVR. Turn the tube volume down for 2-channel. Someone else will probably give you the details. The idea is no compromise in 2-channel and slight compromise in HT. A better solution is to use something like the AR SP16 tube pre-amp with HT passthrough.
