LuisC
Hi, I bought a parametric equalizer (Technics SH-GE90) from a friend. I found a lot of people mentioning putting an EQ in their subs. How can I accomplish this? I have R*7 series with RSW-15 subwoofer. Luis
Frzninvt
I don't think that that Technics Equalizer is a dedicated true parametric equalizer, it may be a graphic equalizer with some parametric abilities though. If you are using a A/V receiver take the single RCA output from the (subwoofer out) on the receiver and using a two male to one female "Y" adapter connect it to the input on the equalizer then connect the output of the Technics Eq to the inputs of the subwoofer (if the subwoofer has only a single RCA input jack you will have to use another "Y" adapter. The higher ranges will be useless since the equalizer will be getting only an 80hz and below input signal. A better unit for this purpose is the Audio Control Richter Scale since it has frequency controls specifically dedicated to the lower octave ranges. I don't think that you are going to benefit tremendously by doing this with the Technics equalizer. I also just noticed that the Eq has D.S.P. in it which could lead to additional noise and hiss. I would just hook it to the tape monitor loop on your A/V receiver and use it very conservatively to adjust the dips and peaks in the frequency ranges that actually require it. Hope it works for you.
