buylow
Is it normal for the back of the sub to be so hot?
ERIK
Mine gets warm if used for a long time but I don't think I'd describe it as hot. What do you mean about hot? too hot to touch? How much room do you have around the sub, and how loud are you playing it?
Ray Garrison
If it getes so hot that you can't put your hand on the heatsinks for more than two seconds or so without buring yourself, then you're pushing it to the limit. Hot, but not that hot, is normal. Normal for head banging Klipsch loving music pumping folks, anyway... ------------------ Music is art Audio is engineering
buylow
I'd say it is as hot as holding a cup of coffee. It does not burn, but seems a bit much. Oh, and it is that way just sitting in standby. Doesn't get any hotter when playing............... just louder.

You might want to put it in auto if it isn't already. If it is, that doesn't sound normal to be hot when nothing's running...
buylow
It has always been in auto. Indicator light turns red when no sound is on, but the back panel remains extra warm to the touch. Even after it has not been playing for several hours.
PhilH
buylow: The amp should not run hot when the sub is in standby, especially for several hours. I'd call 1-800-KLIPSCH and ask for Trey or Matt in Tech Support. PhilH
buylow
Thanks to all who have advised on the heat issue. I just returned from Tweeters with a new KSW-12. It's been running awhile and is not even warm. I think the problem is fixed. Once again, thanks to all.
