m00n
So, as you guys know I am really trying to make my own acoustic treatments... Thus, are there really anything too scientific about the diffusers on this page? They look simple to build.
WMcD
In one of the listening rooms at Indianapolis they have a Skyline on the ceiling, in the middle. It is a high ceiling. Otherwise it would be like stalactites in a cave. (sp?) I've seen the slot type described in some technical publications. RPG is a general description and a search should show up something. My understanding is that the goal is to set up a reflector in the form of a diffraction grating, However, the almost random heights ensure that the reflection angles are almost random. (Not said well.) At any given frequency, the sound is scattered. If I do some room treatment, it will be in the form of polycylinders. They are more simple to build and may accomplish the same thing. m00n
Hmmm, I guess there is a science to it.
