Harold Allwardt
I just bought a pair of Cornwalls. They are oiled walnut and on the back of one it says serial # 22T204. Does anyone know what that means? I would appreciate any help you could give me. Harry
fini
Good choice of speakers! Yours were made in the 22nd week of 1979. Klipsch serial nubers are very easy to decode, even though they changed numbering systems about 4 or 5 times! There are some other stampings on the back edge (right side) which will tell you who assembled the cabinet, and who sanded it! fini!
Harold Allwardt
They look like they are made of real wood. Is that possible? If so, does anything in the serial number designate what kind of wood it is? Thanks. Harry
Vavoline
the "type" designation will give you that information. cwo=cornwall, walnut oil coo=cornwall, oak oil, ect..
fini
Harry, Your vintage of Cornwalls was made from real wood! The raw birch models (cbr) used a 9-ply plywood, and the others (walnut, oak, teak, zebrawood, etc.) were made from a "lumber core" plywood. The factory-painted black models could have been made with any of these materials, as they typically chose Cornwalls whose veneer had visual blemishes or defects (like weird grain patterns) to paint. fini
