spyder79
ok, i'd love to say i knew what i was talking about, but the fact is i have no idea..i'm going to list my components that i bought and try to explain my problem i am having...i have the entire reference series, rc3's, rs3's, and the rf3's with a ksw 12 sub.. i have a denon 3801 reciever, i'm using a monster cable going from the sub into the reciever...monster speaker wire to all the speakers... i also have the promedia 4.1's for my pc...now here is my problem... i am almost possitive i've set up my speakers correctly, all the settings, i've messed with a bunch of different configurations as well..and let me tell you, i feel i am getting much more bass from my promedia's... the promedias feel like they are filling the room out and are delivering much more powerful bass that feels like it is going right through me...the ksw 12 feels like all the bass is going into the floor and is below me..i have both sets in my room, its a relatively small room, nothing big...i've placed the same music cd's in both my main system and my promedia's and the promedia's seem to deliver much higher high's and more bass then i am getting from my main...this just doesn't seem right considering i spent over $3000 for my speaker setup and 250 for my promedia's.. when i am playing a movie i can definetly tell a differnce between the two...the main speakers definetly seem to produce more distinct sounds...just doesn't seem as high and the bass seems a bit week for 440 watts... just wondering if anybody had a similar problem, or might know what my problem is...i appreciate any help you can give.. just remember, i really know nothing about systems, i am trying to learn...so be a little careful about the terminology, i might not know what your talking about
boa12
spyder, there're so many things to cover for poor bass from the sub. 1st thing is make a line connection from the sub out to both line inputs of the ksw using a Y-cable/adapter. that's 1 thing where i've seen a whalla improvement in ksw results. if u provide all details on your hook-ups, receiver & sub settings, & speaker/sub placements u may get a better answer. but it might be easier for u to cruise this forum using the search for like ksw, sub, etc. best probably under the powered subwoofer section. also, see the thread "Direct mode...solution" under the home theater section for my revelations on the receiver bass management issues. ------------------ Klipsch KLF 30 (front), KLF C-7, Cornwall I (rear) Velodyne HGS-18 sub woofer Monsterbass 400 sub interconnects & Monster CX-2 biwire & Z-12 cable Marantz SR-8000 receiver Sony DVP-C650D cd/dvd player Sony Trinitron 27" stereo tv Toshiba hi-fi stereo vcr Technics dual cassette deck Scientific Atlanta Explorer 2000 digital cable box Boa's Listenin Lounge: Klipsch RF-3 (front), RC-3, cheap little Technics (rear) Monster MCX Biwires Sony STR-DE935 a/v receiver Kenwood KR-9600 AM/FM stereo receiver (vintage 1975) Russound AB-2 receiver switch to RF-3 Teac PD-D1200 5-disk cd changer Technics direct drive turntable Sega Genesis game player Sub: None yet rock on!
