lawrnk
Hi, I have 4 quintets and a denon avr-1603. I have no real center right now, and have been using an old Aiwa center. Yes...it sucks. I never had the center that came with this series, and have seen the SC-1 for pretty cheap. Any advice as to what speaker I need for voice matched surround? Many Thanks! ccsakura
I believe SC1 or SC5?? Depends on how many space and money you can offer for the speakers?
dougdrake
Well, you could use another Quintet as a center - - that would be a perfect match. If not, get an SC-.5.
chuque
On a somewhat related note... Am I "supposed" to use the SC.5 with the quintets? I have an SC1 and have always not been totally happy with the quality of sound I get (not enough treble, too much mid, especially on dialogues in movies). Would the sound be very different with an SC.5 instead? Any other suggestions?
dougdrake
What you're trying to change may not be a function of having the correct center for the Quintets, but rather the correct center for YOUR environment. The recommended center for the Quintets is the one that most closely matches the 2 main speakers so you have a seamless sound array across the front. Thus, the Quintet center channel or a 5th Quintet is the ideal match, for timbre matching purposes. However, if you don't care for the sound of the SC-1 center, I'm not sure going to a smaller center will help. You may just need to upgrade all the speakers to get the quality you are looking for and have the timbre matching across the front.
