Is a Reference 7 center too heavy for the top of a rear projection TV?

Mike,

It depends on the TV that you have. I have an RC-7 on top of a Pioneer big screen without any problems. Pioneer uses a lot of wood so that a piano finish can be added. Other brands may not do as well. They tend to use plastic without adequate support. If in doubt, build a shelf for the RC-7, but be sure that it is well anchored.

Some have suggested getting a piece of glass cut to cover the top of the set distributing the load and helping prevent any sag. No problem protecting the set top with little rubber bumper things. I personally dislike the looks of a big honkin' center sitting on the teevee, and only set mine up when watching DVD. In one of these Klipsch rooms (can't remember which), someone built a REALLY nice looking floor stand for his C7, which btw is heavy as heck also.
