joshnich
I received a somewhat belated Christmas present today. Annie Leibovitz's book of photos called "American Music" It truly is a wonderful page-turner. Two hundred and some odd pages of photos of the best in American roots music. Mostly personalities from Delta Blues, Country, and Bluegrass but it also include a number of what I would call roots jazz artists as well. Examples include George Jones, Duane Eddy, Lucinda Williams, Irma Thomas, Etta James, and Anita O'Day. A real cornucopia of spectacular, only in America, personalities. The cover is a great shot of a Dual 1225 spinning a Monument Recording Studios test pressing of "The Stamps" It also includes essays from a range of artists including Patti Smith, Steve Earle and Rosanne Cash. Very very Cool. The only thing that has me puzzled is how the Dixie Chicks made it in the book! Check it Out josh
