Allan Songer
I played all four of Don Wilkerson's LPs as a leader back to back to back to back this morning and I've got a BIG FAT SMILE on my face that will be hard to get rid of any time soon. Rollicking shuffles, gut-bucket blues, hard bop, highly emotional and sensitive ballads--Wilkerson was an amzing player. He is most foumous for playing tenor on all of Ray Charles' 1950's R&B hits (remember the HARD tenor solo on "I Got a Woman?"). Anyway, I recently read somewhere that the "Complete Blue Note Sessions" is available on CD and I HIGHLY reccomend it!! http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B00005OR8Y.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg http://www.bluenote.de/images/cover/150/4988006772120.jpg http://img.hmv.co.jp/image/jacket/190/19/7/2/163.jpg http://www.sunmusic.tv/cdpic/front/TOCJ9515.jpg Here's a link so that you can BUY the CD set! http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0000589UI/qid=1073251589/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_1/103-0241984-0619020?v=glance&s=music
