norcuron
I am considering upgrading my Marantz SR-96 Receiver. I used to run an older Carver Pre-amp and still think that is sounded better with the TFM-45 amp than the Marantz + TFM45. I am looking for advice for what you all recommend for home theater and stereo music. I have always loved the Carver stuff and have considered going with a Sunfire reciver since that is where Mr. Carver himself went. What do you guys think? Thanks for info. MrMcGoo
The Sunfire receiver is pricey. In that price range I would also look at the B&K 505 or 507 and the Pioneer VSX-59TXi. All three brands do well with making rated power. The Pioneer has some of the best DACs an the market and is very quiet, i.e., no hiss or distortion. The prior model, the 49TXi should be available for closeout prices. The Pioneer has i.link for multi-channel music being decoded in the receiver.
