bashir01
I have an old (well semi old) hp pavillion. The computer specs are here: http://h20015.www2.hp.com/en/document.jhtml?reg=&plc=&lc=en&cc=us&prodId=hppavilion20888&docName=bph05747&cat=prodinfo#P104_1451 What sound card would work on this system for my ProMedia 4.1 speakers. I know I need a PCI sound card but, (1) I am not sure if my PCI slots are 2.1 Complient (I e-mail HP to ask them) and I am not sure what card will work in my computer? Any help would be awsome!!! 007
dont worry about that, get any soundcard you want. everyone should be backwards compatable.
DMF
Just about any PCI sound card will "work". Very few will sound good. The ProMedias are accurate enough to make that painfully obvious. I recommend a Creative Labs Audigy 2, or (my favorite) a M-Audio Revolution 7.1. A possible issue is the operating system - whether the drivers will work well or not. What are you using?
