dougdrake2
BobG - Need your input, if you please. I have Forte's for my front speakers. If they sit directly on the floor, the midrange and tweeter are 28" and 32" from the floor, respectively (I always respect my speakers). My center channel (KV-3 upgrading to an inverted Forte) is over the TV, and the tweeter is 55" from the floor. 1) Are the fronts and center too far off from each other in horizontal alignment for a smooth soundstage? (About 24" on average). 2) Can "alignment" be achieved by tilting the center channel down rather than raising the front speakers? I'd like to put them on the floor for the best bass response... TIA- Doug
Guest BobG
What really makes the biggest difference is how steep the angle from main to center speaker. With a 2' height difference and mains spread wide, there is a shallow angle between mains and center which will be pretty much fine. If the mains are tucked right up against the TV the angle from main to center will be steep and the sound will audibly jump as it pans from L. to R. Absolutely point the center speaker so it aligns with the level of the mains at your listening position. This will minimize any perception of the sound moving up and down.
