jabaker
My Onkyo 701 has the calibration at reference level 82db.The onkyo manual says to use a SPL meter(I bought 1 from Radioshack) to set all speakers to 75db.Can all speakers be safely set to higher levels such as 85db and up.Will this be alright for the speakers and the reciever. Thanks for any feedback! MarkBK
Yes you can use 85db to set the level. The Avia calibration disk - recommended for calibrating audio and video systems - recommends that level for set the speaker balance for timbre match etc. I have used that level with my RF5 /RC35 system.
