zoocow
Well, I finally convinced the wife to allow me to purchase a 5 channel amp. I got a Marantz MM9000 new in box off of ebay. When I hooked it up to my Outlaw 1050 receiver's preouts I had ALOT of noise coming out of all channels. I adjusted the level settings almost to the min setting on the amp. I really don't hear the noise that much now, but I got to turn the volume up to levels higher than I usually would if I was just using the Outlaw's amps. Is this a problem with the Outlaw's preamp outs? the amp? my speakers?.cables?.the amp is rated at 150w per channel.
minn_male42
the easiest way to check out the amp is to try it in a friend's system.... plug it into a different receiver with preouts.... or take it to your local dealer and tell him you are in the market for a new preamp and want to hear one with your amp..... was the amp brand new off of ebay?? personally, i've stopped buying used equipment from ebay after getting burned a couple of times...... dougdrake
You can narrow it down by disconnecting the Outlaw from your amp and listening for the noise. If you still hear it, then it is the amp that is causing the noise. It is not uncommon for some amount of floor hiss to be present, especially with uber-sensitive speakers like Klipsch. zoocow
The amp was new in box from an authorized Marantz online dealer. I will check it with the Outlaw disconnected. I think I tried that and I heard nothing, but I will check again. I think it is the Outlaw. Wait till I tell the wife I need a new pre/proc now.
