ygmn
I watched the movie last night..... Dolby Digital EX.....wow a first for my collection...one that actually is coded EX and the receiver sees and automatically goes into EX mode..cool hehe The story was awesome...one for the entire family.....very well acted by Robert Duvall, Micheal Caine & Haley Joel Osment..... even for a non action flick the sound effects were incredible....you will be swatting bugs away as you hear them....the shotgun firing...sounds as though you are there....ya cover your ears.... This one is well worth renting...and I say ownership..which I do..... I even think Rodger Ebert gave it a thumbs up..... Check it out... RickB
It is a real good movie, and you are right the audio is excellent. The opening scene when the airplane flew from the rear speakers to the front felt like they flew right through my skull.
gcoker
I agree...excellent movie. by the way has anyone else experienced movies that claim Dolby Digital EX but is not. I never have any problems with DTS-ES and alot of DD-EX.

For the most part on all DD5 I force the receiver to matrix the rear center...this was one of the first to activate it on its own...I was like cool... now I love them DTS6 movies...they are amazing.....to my ears.... gcoker
I also matrix the rear center on all movies. But I remember getting Harry Potter (the first one) and on the back it states DD-EX but it does not play 6.1. On any DTS-6.1 movies they all play without having to matrix the back. RickB
Quite a few of the DD-EX movies are not flagged for EX. Movies like Harry Potter, and We Were Soldiers, and many others are DD-EX but they are not flagged to automatically engage your rear channels. You have to manually engage your rear speakers.
