capt_vic
Hello, I am using two pair of SCR-1 speakers as the rear channels for my 6.1 surround sound system. The first pair makes up the left and right rear surround channels. The center rear surround channel only requires one speaker. I want to know if I can connect both speakers of the second pair to the center rear channel. Correct me if I am wrong, I believe you would connect the positive wire to the positive terminal on speaker #1, then connect speaker #1 to speaker #2 by connecting speaker #1's negative terminal to speaker #2's positive terminal. Then to complete the wiring, connect the negative wire to the negative terminal on speaker #2. Am I confused or would this work? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Capt Vic
MrMcGoo
It sounds like you are connecting the two surround back speakers in series. This will double the impedance and will require that the channel level be increased on the receiver. It will probably not sound as good as one speaker alone, and put an added load on the receiver. I do NOT recommend it. Use the extra speaker as a backup. The purpose of having two surround back speakers is to prevent the listener from believing sounds from the back are from the front. It is merely a directional cue. Bill
Darren
"This will double the impedance ... and put an added load on the receiver" Be careful with this. I would also advise against it. If you decide to do it, make sure you do some homework so you don't damage your equipment.
wheelman
Won't it make them fire out of phase to?
