rloggie
I've got a pair of Belles with AB type crossovers. Can anyone tell me how these are different from type A? Thanks Robin
djk
It is specific to the Belle, prior to this model it was a one-size-fits-all for the K/LS/B.
rloggie
So its an A crossover made for the Belle version? Same crossover points, etc.?
Al Klappenberger
Here's the schematic onthe AB. * It uses the so-called "elliptic" tweeter filter (IHMO: a good thing). * It runs the woofer full-range with no indutor (IMHO: questionable) * It has a reverse equalized squawker which casues the upper midrange to droop (IMHO: DUMB!). djk
"* It uses the so-called "elliptic" tweeter filter (IHMO: a good thing)." I like the sound of your ALK tweeter crossover better, the 'elliptical' filter seems to exagerate 'sibilance' on female vocals. "* It runs the woofer full-range with no indutor (IMHO: questionable)" I agree, and suggest upgrading to the later AK3 for the woofer section which uses 4mH in series with the woofer and 100µF in parallel. This boosts the midrange to the woofer right before the crossover point, and gives a steep roll-off below there. "* It has a reverse equalized squawker which casues the upper midrange to droop (IMHO: DUMB!)." If you look closely you will see that the equalizer is a broadband attenuation (the K500 is too loud) that boosts the lower midrange where the K500 needs some help due to its small mouth and short length (about 6" shorter than the K400).
