Grub
hey guys, does anyone know if the ps2 can be used with the 5.1's. If so, how would you connect it to them? Also, if i were to watch dvd's on the ps2, would the sound still be 5.1 and the quality still be there. thanks in advance, Grub
LordHelmet
Although I don't own a ps2, I'm almost positive it would require an external decoder (such as the Audio Tornado or digitheater, etc.)
Shintoryuu
Yeah.. you most definately need the Audio Tornado for the decoding. However, on a side note, it really isn't worth it to buy the audio tornado if you were simply going to use it for your PS2. The playstation 2 only has around 3 games that support surround sound (only Fantavision I can think of at the moment), and there really are no plans for further mainstreaming of the technology in PS2 games. Hell, for a bit more than the price of the audio tornado, you could just buy yourself a Klipsch 2.1 exclusively for your PS2. And in case you didn't know =p, if you run digital out on a game that doesn't support it, you just won't get any sound.
Evansbee
Actually, that's incorrect. THe digital out works for all games big and small, dolby or not. It does stereo over the opticalcable as well. You do need the audio tornado to hook up an optical cable. OR you could run the optical cable into your livedrive IR and you'd get the same effect, but you'd need your tv/ps2 by the computer which may or may not be you bag, baby Evan
