dtssls2
Please help! We have had Chorus speakers for past 15 years and recently remodeled a room. We listen to rock n roll music very loud and love the bass of the Chorus, powered by our Sunfire Ultimate receiver. We would like to upgrade the speakers and would prefer something smaller without sacrificing sound. We also will be adding rear speakers for a surround sound system. We are down to the RF-7's with an RSW-15. Do we need more than 1 RSW-15? We also were thinking of the Def Technology 7000SC's for the size and integrated subs. Any advice? fastlane
Will you be selling the choruses? If so, where are you located?
MrMcGoo
One RSW-15 is usually enough. The RF-7s have excellent bass in their own right, if given good amplification. The RSW-15 can be placed in a corner which increases output by 3 db. A second subwoofer will increase output by about 3 db. Bill
dtssls2
But how about Rf-7 vs Chorus? Will RF-7's fall flat on their face? Chorus rock!!
michael hurd
Define " very loud ". Ht labs (October 2003 Home Theater magazine) quasi-anechoic measurements of the def tech 7000sc puts the sensitivity at 91 db/2.83v/m. Your existing chorus speakers are 101db/w/m. Moving from the Chorus to the Definative Technology 7000sc would be like cutting your amplifier power by 10 x. ( difference of 10 db ) In other words, the Klipsch play as loud, with less distortion, with a mere 40 watts as the Def tech's could muster with 400 watts. Not to mention the power compression, and mechanical limitations of an ineffecient direct radiator midrange and tweeter. If you truly like loud music with low distortion, try the RF7. You may not even require a subwoofer, unless you listen to a lot of pipe organ or electronica, where you feel that you "might" miss the lowest octave. j-malotky
The Chorus is an awesome speaker. If you like the Heritage sound, I doubt you will be happy with the reference line. I know I would not. For Heritage, the only upgrades from the Chorus are the LAS, Belle or Khorn. JM
