klipgurl
I've heard a rumor......is it true? When wiring my home theather system (5.1 system- Klipsch speakers front, rear, center and sub-woofer, powered by a Pioneer VSXD514K receiver) I was told to make sure all speaker wire was the exact same length -- no mater what speaker it was going to -- to obtain correct/optimal sound. Is this true or not? I am using 14 gage speaker cable.

Champagne taste beer budget
Not True. At the speed the electrons are flowing through your speaker wires, you would need something like 18 miles of difference, and not even sure if that would do it. The few feet in your room will have no effect. (Actually, I just picked 18 miles as an arbitrary number, not to imply that it means anything)
christjared
I agree. You will not need to have the exact length of speaker wire for all speakers. You would be wasting alot of wire when you dont need to and if you use expensive wire that would be a very high cost. Just use an ample amount of wire to each speaker. Make sure you have some slack in the wire so you can move the speaker around a little with out pulling the wire out of the receiver or speaker. ARPRINCE
I don't where we are disagreeing here but the thread of the post do point out to the fact that you don't need the wires to be of the same length.
Champagne taste beer budget
Sorry ARPRINCE, I was called away midpost and you'd posted before I got mine finished. I wasn't saying not true to you, but to the question if wire length was required to be equal.
