Overkill
I have recently made some serious upgrades to my system. Besides new transparent interconnects, have upgraded to a McIntosh MC207 (which sounds awesome...I think I'm now fully converted as Mac lifer!). Also, have a new MX119 en route. I am running reference series (5-channel) with two RSW12's. Most recently I intoduced Dean's most impressive cross-overs into my RF7's. I can now hear the words Lemmy from Motorhead is belting out, and I could have sworn that Norah Jones along with a grand Steinway was in my entertainment room! These speakers have really come alive. Even at extreme volumes the edge is gone, and no high-end fidelity is compromised at any volume. Next I will be getting my RC7 done. I would highly recommend that anyone with RF7's take advantage of this upgrade. For relatively little money this modification provides HUGE value. The installation is a snap, and Dean is very professional. Many thank Dean!!
cob1708
I would second that!! Dean is a first Class guy...I was able to meet with Dean this week and he and his family are top notch. I purchased the new AA upgrades from Dean that will go into my Khorns, but I will not get them installed until next month. I will also have him build upgrades for my Cornwalls in the very near future. I would assume that Dean is like 99.9% of the people on this forum. A#1!!! colterphoto1
Are you CERTAIN that understanding Lemmy from Motorhead is an improvement?!!? Seriously, congrats on the upgrade. Hard to improve on Klipsch Originals, but I hear that Dean's the man! Michael
Deang
Thanks guys. There is so much voodoo and BS with this hobby, it's understandable that skeptics and unbelievers abound. Even when it's not voodoo -- the math and solid modeling don't always explain why the ears pick up on things that the test instruments don't. Yeah, that crossover gets a little resistor tweak, but it sure doesn't account for the whole gamut of improvement in the presentation. It's no big secret that the better parts improve the sound of other gear, yet when it comes to the thing sitting closest to the ear -- people begin to back-peddle. It's an odd thing, and I have no idea how to explain it. http://www.tnt-audio.com/accessories/auricap_e.html http://www.audioasylum.com/audio/tweaks/messages/53696.html http://ldsg.snippets.org/appdx-e.php3
