jjgriffmn
Hello, I recently bought a pair of KG4's. Is there an easy way to see by the serial # what year they were actually made?
Myhamish
Hi JJ, Welcome to the forum. Here's the codes for getting production dates from the serial numbers. If you want to post your serial numbers, maybe someone can help figure them out. Hamish KLIPSCH S/N FORMATS DATES DESCRIPTION EXAMPLE 1946-1947 ### 001 (ending #021) 1948-1961 #### 0121 (starting #0121) 1962-1983 ##letter#### 20Y1234 1984-1989(?) YY WW #### 89281234 1990-1997(?) spschneer
Is this format for all series? I have a (newly acquired) pair of Forte II's that have the original Klipsch paper tag on them, and the S/N is formateed 100nnn. There is a field called W/O (work order, Week Of?) on there along with a model # and finish code... Thanks for the info...
dougdrake
WO = Walnut Oil. It's the finish. And yes, the Forte serial number can be used in the decoder ring...

Connection panel/rear name plate has the Klipsch logo and Forte II Paper is slightly yelloed and somewhat brittle...seems to be 15-20 years old, has the Klipsch logo/address etc printed on it... Unfortunately, my digicam is not working tonite and can't upload a picture I'll try to upload one tomorrow... Thanks
