  1. Posted onto Tampa Bay Craigslist .. if interested reply here or there... Thanks Steve
  2. Thanks Bruce, if I don't hear anything from anyone here this weekend, they'll be going onto Craigslist.
  3. I have a pair of Forte II in Oiled Oak finish that I'm willing to pass on to a new home. They are factory original electronically and are in very good to excellent physical condition with only two minor finish issues. There is a mark on the top of one from an object that was on it. There is a thumbnail-sized area on the side of one cabinet, adjacent to the plinth joint, where the finish/veneer is scuffed. I can't tell if it's just "roughed up" or actually missing/gone but was there when I acquired them and wasn't enough to warrant having fixed (to me). I'm asking $400 and prefer not to ship. I will meet the buyer most anywhere in the Central Florida area (Gainesville to Ft. Myers to Orlando to Tampa Bay) for mutually agreed upon "gas money" only. If the buyer wants to arrange for shipping and packing I will assist as much as possible (e.g.: drop off to shipping center of buyer's choice in Tampa Bay Area). I've attached photos. If desired, I can get bigger ones to you via dropbox. I'll be putting them onto Craigslist or eBay after a week or two on here. I've gotten so much enjoyment from the forum here and the Forte's themselves, I figure I'd let the Klipsch forum members have priority. 4. Thanks again for all the ideas/replys...I think at this time, I will just use my Forte's as they are. I may possibly upgrade my receiver to an AVR that can handle the new formats (Dolby Digital/dts etc) and see if it can create a phantom center gracefully. If so, then that may be the ultimate result. Otherwise, I'll look for a single Forte II (possibly with a blown woofer and/or passive) to salvage the cross-over and Mid & Tweeter... Steve
  5. Thanks for the ideas, so far. I really don't have space for the C7,(and certainly not enough for another Forte II), thus my interest in building something custom to fit the space. Has anyone put together the pieces for a custom speaker with either Klipsch parts, or aftermarket pieces that might work well(and sound good with the Forte's) and be willing to share some specifics? Steve
  6. I think I want to try and build a "center-channel" type of speaker for a home-theater kind of setup and I need some ideas... My current 2-channel audio setup consists of a pair of Forte II's being driven by a Marantz 2230. This gives me really nice 2-channel audio listening performance. I like the sound quality very much. I have a space (just below the TV screen) that's about 6" x 40" that could be used for a "Center-Channel" speaker to improve the dialog for watching TV in this room. My thought is to build in a "center-channel" consisting of a tweeter and one or two mid-ranges from the Forte line. I would then use this with the Forte's when listening / watching TV. I really don't want to go with an Academy (too expensive and scarse, plus too big for the specific space I have). I also don't realy want to go to a full 5.1 home theater type of setup since that is already covered in the family room/main TV area. This is just to improve the ambience of the "other TV" when one of us wants to watch something else. This would be instead of getting something like a soundbar to go in the same location (along with a powered subwoofer to provide some bass for the TV watching). With the Forte's, I don't really need the addtional bass (or expense) of the subwoofer and I can drive the center channel as a mono single off the "B" speaker terminals of the Marantz. Does anyone have any specifics on what I would need to piece together to accomplish this? Thanks Steve
  7. Couple of things I noticed...Selecting Discontinued (would be nicer to call it Legacy maybe?)...then Floorstanding, there's only 3 pages (especially missing the Forte/Forte II, Chorus & Chorus II)...But if you select all (or select the Discontinued title) you get them ... Just not there yet or not in the Floorstanding group???
  8. The veneer on my Oak Forte II's is real veneer and fairly thick (compared to current practices). You should be able to CAREFULLY strip and re-finish fairly easily, unless there are some big heavy scratches... If you haven't done furniture refinishing before, please go to a thrift store and buy a cheap piece of painted furniture to practice on. You don't really want to screw up your Forte's. If you're not comfortable with the process after you practice you can have it done professionally... Nice drive-by gloat on the price BTW...
  9. >>>>>>>>>>Michael is looking for some interconnects<<<<< Funny you should ask...I just ordered a couple of interconnects from http://www.starlink-dss.com/Component.htm based on a recommendation in another thread on this board...I received them today. I plan on using them to hook up my system this weekend to replace some DIY ones that already sound somewhat better than a "couple of steps above RS". I can't find the original thread here, maybe in the technical or 2 channel forums... I'll let you know how they work (however, for the price, you could try a few and then use them for the garage system if you don't like them). The cables are marked "OFC Digital Interconnect Cable by Petra" and seem to be pretty nice...
  10. Hi Michael... (wrote this up earlier but previewed and lost it... ) I've lurked for a while but just recently (this past weekend) have purchased a pair of Forte II's ...My primary reason was research and get the "current" thoughts by users about Klipsch's. I was introduced to them 20+ years ago, and have been in love with them since (in my memory)...I finally (2 kids, 2 houses, etc, etc later) got aroundtoit, and got the Forte II's. THEY SOUND WONDERFUL...EVEN BETTER THAN I REMEMBERED.. I just want to thank y'all for finally helping me act instead of thinking about it... Thanks for the reminder to contribute...Will try and do more... Steve
  11. Another very newbie here...I just started posting yesterday... I just got a pair of Forte II's from an e-Bay auction. They are in excellent sonic shape and G++ to VG condition cosmetically. There is one scratch on one of the sides, and a partial watermark on one of the tops...Since most of my furniture is Cherry, I may re-veneer & refinish. I'm a listener not a collector Watching e-bay auctions for a couple of months led me to believe $400 - $600 was typical, mostly fluctuating due to locale and quality of picture/writeup...I paid in that range... If you are willing to wait, and be patient and watch carefully in local and online classifieds you could probably do a little better. I saw a pair of black Forte II's that looked really good, go for about $300 last weekend... YMMV... I LOVE my Forte's tho'...Was worth the 20+ year wait.... Steve
  12. ---------------- On 12/6/2004 2:16:29 PM dougdrake wrote: WO = Walnut Oil. It's the finish. And yes, the Forte serial number can be used in the decoder ring... ---------------- Nope, don't think so...The finish is Oiled Oak, and is shown on line 2 of the labels.... first line: P/N 09000531111 Assuming this is an internal model number second : FII Oak Oil third S/N 100xxx fourth: W/O 20689 Appears these labels were printed on a slighly mis-aligned daisywheel or line printer since all the letters are missing their top 5-10%... Connection panel/rear name plate has the Klipsch logo and Forte II Paper is slightly yelloed and somewhat brittle...seems to be 15-20 years old, has the Klipsch logo/address etc printed on it... Unfortunately, my digicam is not working tonite and can't upload a picture I'll try to upload one tomorrow... Thanks
  13. Is this format for all series? I have a (newly acquired) pair of Forte II's that have the original Klipsch paper tag on them, and the S/N is formateed 100nnn. There is a field called W/O (work order, Week Of?) on there along with a model # and finish code... Thanks for the info...
