Guest Anonymous
Well, In the coming month I may be fortunate to have the money to start a new stereo system. I got a steal on a new sony tv and that completes my home theater system. After a few years of changing stuff constantly and buying this and that I really learned that all I really ever use this system is for is listening to music in 2 channel. So, if things work out the way I hope, I should have about $1200.00 to spend on an amp and pre-amp. I was thinking about going with adcom, but I was wondering if anyone here had some advice that could steer me in the right direction. As of right now speakers are going to wait because they are part of a different budget and I am so torn on what to buy that I don't know what to get. maxg
I think I would chose my speakers first - and then select an amp to drive them as well as possible. Speakers are about the easiest elements to choose either you like their basic sound or you do not. Thereafter amps, sources et al will tune that basic sound to your preferences. To choose an amp/pre-amp first it to restrict your choice of speakers in the marketplace without much reason.
J M O N
Max is right. Choose your speakers first, then you will need to select your amp based on your speaker choice.
