Crossover help!

Hi Jennifer,

Why would you want to crossover the speakers if you don't have a sub? You'll just be eliminating frequencies. Unless you are playing at speaker-blowing volumes, I'd just leave them full-range so you can take advantage of as much bass as they can possibly put out.

Example, even if a speaker's specs say 40Hz-20kHz +/- 3 db, the speaker is still putting out 40 Hz at -3db and there is possibly some output at 35 or 30 Hz. It's a roll-off, never an exact cutoff. By using your receivers crossover also, you eliminate any chance that your speaker can output those lovely bass notes. So unless you play them so loud that they distort (never a good idea), I'll leave em full-range until you get your sub, THEN by all means use the crossover to keep the sound crisp my keeping the bass notes out of your RF15's.

Hope this didn't create more confusion, if so, just keep writing!

Michael
