fletcherkane
Just wondering if anyone knows what the difference is between newer Klipsch speakers that have their sensitivity measured at 2.83 volts/1 meter, and the older lines that are measured at 1 watt/1 meter? Are the db readings essentially the same when trying to match older speakers with new, or is there a fundamental difference that I need to be aware of? Thanks in advance for the help. MrMcGoo
The thing that you need to understand is that 2.83 volts is only 1 watt on an 8 ohm speaker. Many Klipsch speakers measure closer to 6 ohms where 2.83 volts is 1.5 watts. Bill
jdm56
Other measurement variables to consider: Some companies measure sensitivity in an anechoic chamber, while others quote "in-room sensitivity". You can add about 2-3dB to the anechoic figure, all else being equal, relative to an anechoic rating. Paradigm literature quotes both. Also, sensitivity measurements are sometimes done with wide-band pink noise, but more often with narrow band, often just one octave, centered at 1kHz. colterphoto1
Also on some Heritage spec charts it is +/- 5 dB, not the standard +/- 3 dB.
