Dean looks to be out of pocket recently, and I hope I would not be stepping on toes to chime in; I will merely promote Dean here.

In general, the sound of the speaker can be improved by modifying the stock crossover for higher quailty components - the inductors and capacitors, in particular. Dean had a very long thread recently called "DIY crossover upgrades" in the "Upgrades and Modifications" section (wher you just posted); you DEFINITELY want to check it out - do a search, it was about two weeks ago. He gave a very thorough and lengthy explanation of what he does, with supportive photos.

I hope that Dean can help you in the future, he has many satisfied clients!!!
