Smokem
Long time reader first time poster. I have the Quintet system with the KSW-10 sub. My Receiver is an RCA RT2500. The problem is that when I turn the receiver on it takes about 2 minutes for the sound to come on. What would cause this?
DrWho
Does it take the sub 2 minutes to come on or all the speakers? If it's all the speakers, then there's probably something wrong with the reciever.
Smokem
It takes all the speakers and sub a few minutes to get the sound. What I noticed last night was a green light/diode inside the receiver that comes on when I turn the receiver on and when the green light/diode goes out the speakers come on. It does this in any mode (Sat,TV,CD,DVD,VCR1,VCR2,Tape, and Tuner).

gcoker
It's your receiver, it an old receiver and takes that long to warm up.
Colin
could be fuse protection circuit - takes a minute to warm up, my old amps does that, so do some very expensive amps, nothing wrong - good thing
DrWho
Is it a literall 2 minutes? or does it just feel that long? Every higher quality amplifier and reciever I've come across usually has a "soft on" feature (or some other silly name) where everything turns on slowly so as to prevent any popping sounds from destroying your speakers. 2 minutes is a long time, but I suppose it's possible that they did this on purpose. Has it always taken this long?
Smokem
I didn't time it. I would aree with you and say it feels like 2 minutes, but it's not really 2 minutes. What I forget to mention was that at first there is no sound then it slowly increases to what ever the volume is set to.
Scp53
i think thats more normal. does everthing else work ok? is this the only problem you have with it? scp53
Smokem
Everthing works (all buttons) but no sound until it warms upo. I timed this this morning and it took 5 minutes for it to power up. I was told that that is normal for older receivers with amps.
