answerman
I am considering purchasing a 5-6 speaker system for my home theater. I have a Yamaha DSP-A2070 amp that can drive 8 speakers (2-Main, 2-Front, 2-Rear, 1-Center, 1-Sub) it is an older system but it sure has a lot of power and features. I am currently using some older Cerwin Vega D-9 (4-way w/15inch subs) as my main speakers and would like to add a 5 or 6 speaker system to top it off. My dilema is that the Pro-Audio 5.1 system eventhough is made for a computer comes with a sub and that the satellites appear to be identical. My questions are: Are the satellites for the pro-audio and the quintet system the essentially same? Is the center speaker that comes with the quintet system far better than the one that comes with the 5.1's? I get a set of quintets (4 satellites + 1 center) for $323 plus shipping so depending on how you answer my questions I am thinking that since the 5.1'a throw in a sub it might be the better deal at $399. Thank you
justin_tx_16
go to your post in teh Home Theator section. ProAudio is not the place for ProMedia and the Quintets, they are not considered Professional, well to me at least Never hurts to post more than one place though... unless you post like four times at the same time and do not let others try to reply to the first one before youpost again... Guest BillH
The only thing similar about the two is that they look the same. That is where it ends. The material the cabinet is made of is not the same, the drivers, the crossover, input terminals, the pedistal / wall bracket (Quintet). Very different speakers. These will not perform like your CV D 9's. They just are not capable of the same output based on size. Looks like you got a great price quote on the Quintets. Just make sure you know who you are buying from and that you really get a warranty. You can even call Klipsch at 800-274-5547 to make sure.
