I know the obvious things to look for, like how many channels, power, modes, features. But when a reciver says "65 watts per channel", how do you determine if all of that power is usuable or if it distorts before that. What Im saying is what specs should I be looking at. gcoker Posted February 3, 2005 Share Posted February 3, 2005 I look to see if the receiver is rated for: 1. All channels (x 5, x6, x7) 2. Frequency range (20 Hz to 20khz) 3. Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) at that rating (should be very low)(i.e. 0.05%) 4. The Ohms the rating is at. (8 ohms.) 5. Wattage at all the above ratings (xxx watts x 7) 6.
