Outlaw 1050 HT Receiver; good quality?

Recommended Posts

I have been getting more motivated to buy a newer technology HT Receiver.

Are people satisfied with this "mail order" type of purchase? The unit seems to have good reviews, but I would trust participants in this web site more than the media.

Any happy Outlaws with Klipsch?

As you can see from the listings below, I love Outlaw 1050s, they are now available for $499. down from $599. Customer service is the best I have ever experienced. They stand behind their product 200%; even helped me set up Sony components. The receiver has been very favorably reviewed by pros and consumers (see www.audioreiew.com and www.outlawaudio.com ) alike. Most believe this is a very solid A/V receiver that it is hard to match for under $1000.I could afford better but I love bargains. It works spectacularly with my Klipsch THX system the 65 watts beats out most 100 watt per channel receivers I experimented with adding the Outlaw 750 amp but it was overkill I certainly dont need 165 watts per channel with my Heritage speakers and the Klipsch THX speakers are efficient enough plus the subs have their own amps that bear a good deal of the most demanding (low frequency, low impudence) load. I did add a dynaco tube preamp to bring out the best in my Khorns . Feed it through the Outlaw 1050 have thought of getting some tube monoblocks but honestly I cant see how it could get much better, In short the 1050 is a no frills high end receiver at a bargain price. Buy it, youll love it.

Sounddog,

In looking at your system I see you have the Digital Director from MSB. I have the MSB LINK II dac and I really like it. Since the 1050 is a little light on digital inputs(as I remember one optical and one RCA) is it implied you use the Digital Director for jitter reduction and the ability to add new sources?

I am narrowing the choice to the 1050 and the NAD T761( it has 3 digital inputs of each) of course the NAD will cost me at least $ 250 more.

This sounds a bit stupid for a person who started programming in 1977(cannot master all of the software I use), BUT how do you guys insert your system list in every post?

Sounddog,

I am very envious of you guys with all of the multiple pairs of Heritage speakers.

Now that I am 41 I warned my wife a mid life crisis diversion would be finding a pair of Lascalas, Belles or K horns at an estate sale and bringing them home unanncounced. Cannot afford them retail of course.

She clearly understands my RB5s will be the smallest pair of speakers I ever own.

How big is your music room to hold all of those speakers?

AF,

I can answer one of your questions. The equipment list you see at the end of certain posts can be added to yours through the "signature" when you registered and signed up. I think if you just edit yours you can add whatever you want.
