Kain
I know that unless the DVP-S9000ES is hooked up to a HDTV, the picture quality of the DVP-S9000ES and DVP-S735D is the same. But what about sound quality? Is the sound quality also the same while watching a DVD and listening to a normal audio CD?

Kain
Anyone, please? I really need to decide if the DVP-S9000ES is worth the $1165 difference if I do not have a HDTV. The sound quality the same of the two DVD players when watching a DVD and listening to a normal audio CD?

Seb
Are you going to use the digital outs of the DVD player to the receiver in both cases? If so, then there will be virtually no difference. I would think, however, that the digital-to-analog converters of the better models would be superior, making for a better sound if you used the analog outputs of the player in CD playing mode. I don't think it would be enough to warrant the heavy supplement though.
