Is the Yamaha RX-V3000 receiver good enough to take the Rx-7s to the max?

Pretty tough question. Every time your amp and source improve, you'll hear more through ANY speakers. RF-x's are particularly detailed and revealing so there is NO amp which will max out their performance. Same is true of many fine speakers and basically true of any speaker as mentioned above. I've said to myself "this is the last xxx I should ever have to buy" never been true though. There is always another level of performance available if you have the money and the patience to get there.

the rxv 3000 is one of the best ht receivers i sell, hornEd uses one, and i think it would be an excellent choice. avman.
