Shiplemw1
Ok folks heres the question: I will be upgrading my system very soon with a set of klf-10's and probably a ksc-1 center channel. My problem being that I'm in a college dorm and my roomates want loud music NOW. So can I use an older jvc receiver set on low low low volumes playing cd's into the speakers to break them in while I use my old speakers on my avr510 or should I do it with my avr510, or does it even matter? Just thought I'd ask, also how long before I should really start cranking up the music? after 50,100,500 hours of soft music? Give me your advice, opinions, magic spells whatever it maybe I appreciate it, thanks, mike
Mr. Blorry
A break-in period for speakers is a myth, IMHO. I had a pair of brand new KLF 30s that had minor cosmetic damage. Rather than give me a partial refund, my friendly K dealer decided to replace them entirely. I marked their locations on the carpet, then took the old ones back to the store. Put the new ones in the exact same place. The old ones had roughly 100-200 hours on them, and the new ones sounded exactly the same. You also need not worry about babying them while they're new either; the biggest enemy of any speaker is distortion, so push 'em as hard as ya want, just don't clip the amplifier! Rock on. soundog
I often wonder about break-in periods. It gets especially mysterious when people talk about break-in or burn-in periods for cables! I think these are computer concepts that salesmen have picked up to get people to keep their speakers / electronic equipment longer because many things sound better as you get used to them especially if they represent a change. ColaBear
Agree with you guys, not such thing as "break-in". I have seen some really wild claims on a few other sites. I believe it is really your ears becoming acccustomed to the new speakers. ------------------ KLF-30 mains KLF-C7 center KLF-30 side surrounds KG 3.5 rear surrounds KSW200 subwoofer Denon AVR5800 Pioneer Elite DV-09 Pioneer Elite PD-F19 RCA DTC100 DSS/HDTV Sony Playstation 2 Denon MD1000 Vidikron Epoch D-600 Vutec 100" 4:3 1.5 gain
