preamp for HT...

Does there exist a preamp that simply recieves the various audio/video analog and digital signals and convert to the straight up basic analog outputs? In other words, I'm looking for a preamp that does the absolute bare minimum (while sounding good) with no speaker distances or bass management or anything. I was then thinking of hooking up the outputs to a http://music-instruments.us/by-manufacturer/dbx/dbx-480-drive-rack.html and it's slave http://music-instruments.us/by-manufacturer/dbx/dbx-481-driverack-single.html ...basically tri-amping every speaker (yes, that means lots of amp too). I'd be interested in other system processors as well.

Another option would be getting 4 of these: http://music-instruments.us/by-manufacturer/dbx/dbx-drive-rack-studio.html (which would prob be cheaper too). Then I would need a preamp with bass management or perhaps split every output into another mixer and throwing in the bass crossover there.

I was also thinking of just going with a basic 3 way crossover before every amp: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/search/detail/base_id/58090/src=00631 in conjunction with that one cool bass management piece that I've seen mentioned a few times around here (Outlaw ICBM?). Does the outlaw have a continuous crossover filter or a stepped selector? I noticed they have an interesting preamp which might be what i'm looking for: http://www.outlawaudio.com/products/990x.html

Btw, I could probably scratch the whole system processor/active crossover stuff and just build crossovers inside the speakers. But this is basically a DIY project (building the speakers too) and I don't know how to build speaker level crossovers so this is my work around...not like tri-amping is a "bad" thing though. 2.gif I would love to learn how to make crossovers, but I can't find a good source of info 15.gif

I really like my Bryston SP1.7 pre-amp, it's a very musical sounding unit. It only has audio inputs/outputs, no video. Very easy to setup and you can turn off all bass management by setting the cross-over freq to none. You can bypass all DSP functions as well for 2 and 5.1 channel analog music. However, you will need to setup speaker distances for multi-channel operation only.

Sorry, if this is not exactly what your looking for.
